Many of you have asked us: "How do I order more masks with the holder?" We knew our product variant system wasn’t perfect, but reworking it properly took time we simply didn’t have. Until now… Meet the new Holder configurator. We’re not sure “configurator” is the right word. It’s simply a tool that helps you pick all the masks you would love to have.
What has changed
Visually, everything. Functionally, a lot. Our main goal was to fix the biggest flaw of the old setup: you couldn’t pick more than one mask of the same format at once (for example, both versions of the 35mm mask). You had to find the other mask in the shop and add it to the cart as a separate product.
The new configurator is more modern and logically organised, and it can do more than the old one. For example, it now shows the available accessories right next to the masks, so you no longer have to hunt for them elsewhere on the website or in the product description.

And the second-best upgrade, which we’re really proud of: you can now see what the scans actually look like. You can check how much border there is around the frame, how much of the sprocket holes is visible, and so on. For now, examples are available only for the regular negative 35mm masks and 6×6, because those are the only negatives we have at hand. We’ll add more formats as soon as we get our hands on them.
📣 Negatives needed
Do you have negatives in other formats that you could sacrifice? Scratched, damaged, badly exposed or otherwise unusable ones are perfect. They would serve as scan examples for our masks, and we would be incredibly grateful if you sent them to us in an envelope.

The more masks you buy, the cheaper they get
The last feature is again for you, our customers. Well, “feature”... it’s more of a special offer. Some of you scan many formats and need lots of masks (thank you for choosing the Lobster Holder for your scanning setup!). Others just want to try both versions of the 35mm mask.
So whenever you pick more than one mask for your holder, you get a discount on the extra ones. One mask is always included in the price of the holder. It’s always the cheaper one, so you never pay for the cheaper mask. How much do you save?
- 10% off with one extra mask (two in total)
- 15% off with two extra masks (three in total)
- 20% off with three or more extra masks (four or more in total)
The discount applies to every mask except the included one.
