Just Bring Your Own Camera

“I ain’t have no stinkin’ copy stand,” we keep reading in customer feedback. And it’s true – while the original Lobster Holder is top-tier, you still need a tripod or a copy stand to use it. This is the fifth generation of our design aimed on the most easiest use.

Introducing Lobster Holder AIO: The all-in-one scanning rig. Just add a camera, everything else is included. The film frame stays perfectly positioned, and the compact unit fits in many drawers (at least 18 cm / 7" high).

Stop losing resolution. Unlike systems that use fixed adapters or spacers, the AIO allows for infinite adjustments. You can frame your negative perfectly and use your entire sensor – no screwing and unscrewing spacers required.

What is different to our classic holders

Our classic holders require you to bring your own support gear (tripod / copy stand) and align the camera manually. The Lobster Holder AIO is a complete, self-contained scanning rig. It integrates the holder, light mount, light and camera support into a single rigid unit. It eliminates the need for a wobbly copy stand / tripod, guarantees perfect parallel alignment automatically, and fits inside a drawer when you're done.

What's in the box

Everything! Just slap in your camera, watch our video, and start scanning.

  • Multi-Format Compatibility: It is a versatile, multi-format holder that supports a wide range of film types via interchangeable Film Masks. Supported formats include: 35mm, various 120 frame sizes (645, 6x6, 6x7, 6x8 and 6x9), slides, 110 film, Half-Frame and obscure formats like 127, Horizon 202, 828, Widelux / Noblex, 126 and even Hasselblad XPan. Custom masks can be requested for unlisted formats, please hit us a message.
Please note that film strips shorter than 18 cm / 7 inch are not supported! We recommend at least 20 cm / 9 inch long strips.
  • Precision "Monorail" Alignment: Inspired by large-format cameras, our anodized aluminum rail keeps your sensor and film perfectly parallel. No wobble, no guesswork.
  • Effortless Operation: Film format changes are quick and easy—simply pull out and slide in a new mask without the need for bolts. The film path is completely smooth to prevent snagging.
  • Frame It Perfectly (100% Sensor Usage): Unlike systems that use fixed adapter tubes, the Lobster Holder AIO offers infinite sliding adjustment.
    • Focus: Slide the holder to the exact distance required.
    • Center: Use the lateral adjustment to center cameras with offset tripod mounts.
    • Frame: Raise or lower the film stage to capture the full negative border.
  • Safe for Heavy Gear: Designed with a low center of gravity and robust 3D-printed construction. You can mount a heavy full-frame DSLR or Mirrorless camera without fear of the unit tipping over.
  • Lens Compatibility: Works seamlessly with macro lenses up to 105mm (for Full Frame) and 70mm (for APS-C). Longer lenses supported upon request.
  • Compact & Stowable: Don't have a permanent studio? No problem. The unit is compact enough to stow away in a drawer (approx. 18 cm / 7" height) when you are done scanning.
  • Country of Origin: Designed, made & assembled in Czech Republic.

FAQ

Q: What film formats does the Lobster Holder AIO support?
A: The Lobster Holder AIO is a multi-format holder that supports a wide variety of film types through its interchangeable Film Masks. This includes standard 35mm (two versions), various 120 film frame formats (645, 6x6, 6x7, 6x8 and 6x9), slides, 110 film, Half-Frame and obscure formats like 127, Horizon 202, 828, Widelux / Noblex, 126 and even Hasselblad XPan. Please note that some of those films won't be possible to scan if it's cut in short strips / frames, see more information in the next question.

Q: Is the Lobster Holder AIO suitable for cut frames / strips?
A: For single cut frames the holder unfortunately isn't suitable. The design of the holder doesn't allow us to make masks for single cut frames. Eg. for 120 films we recommend having a strip of at least 3 frames, for 35mm film the typical 6 frames strip is without problem as well. Width of the mask is 16 cm / 6.3", that means the strip has to be longer than that. If you need to scan cut frames in shorter strips, the Lobster Holder V2 will be more suitable for it.

Q: What is the Lens Hood for?
A: The Lens Hood helps to banish stray light by eliminating any unwanted light that might leak in from the sides, ensuring your focus is only on the film itself for the cleanest possible digital scan.

Q: I have a film format that is not on the list of supported for Lobster Holder AIO. Does it mean I cannot use the holder for it?
A: If you have a film format that is not listed, please hit us with a message specifying which film format you have. We will check the properties and if it is possible, we will make you a custom mask for it.
