I hate hate hate stray light and flares when scanning my shitty photos. Not that this hood makes them any better, but at least the flares don't make them shittier.
The hood should ideally reach the lens. Everyone's setup is different, that's why we offer a base (55mm high) and extensions in two sizes (30mm and 50mm).
